Acer campbellii subsp. campbellii

Large deciduous tree, rare in cultivation, about 18m in height, with smooth, grey-brown bark, green when young and palmate 5-7 lobed, glossy mid-green leaves, the juvenile leaves red and deeply-lobed. Good yellow autumn leaf tints. Yellow flowers in upright panicles during late spring are followed by brown winged fruits in early autumn
