'Blue Ice' is a clump-forming, compact, upright, deciduous perennial, with lance-shaped, dark green leaves with a paler midvein, fading to yellow orange and golde in the autumn. Flowers open in terminal panicles that are starry-shaped and periwinkle blue in late spring and early summer. Plants contain a milky sap.
