Chaenomeles × superba

A rounded deciduous shrub with spiny branches and glossy, toothed leaves. Clusters of cup-shaped flowers are produced before and with the leaves, in shades of white, pink, orange and red, from spring to early summer. Flowers are followed by aromatic fruit that ripens to yellow, and is edible if cooked.
