An evergreen tree to 10m, with arching branches and reddish-brown, peeling bark. The pendulous, grey-green leaves are lance-shaped, to 15cm long, held on slender stems which are covered in powdery white bloom. In summer it produces clusters of pendant, petalless flowers to 5cm across, composed of a brush-like boss of pink stamens
