A large, spreading, deciduous shrub to 3m with narrowly oval, mid-green leaves, turning red in autumn. Inconspicuous but nectar-rich, green and white flowers in summer are followed by white, four-lobed fruit, splitting to reveal orange seeds, and lasting well into winter
