About this plant

A compact, F1 hybrid vegetable with finely divided, feathery, bright green foliage that is grown for its rounded, swollen, aniseed-flavoured stems. Yellow umbel flowers are produced if the bulb is not harvested, or if stressed by dry hot weather. Resistant to bolting. Height 75cm (30in).

Cultivation

For early crops sow seed in modules or undercover in early spring. Alternatively, sow seed in well-drained soil outdoors in a sunny position from mid-summer onwards. Thin seedlings to 30cm (12in) apart. Mulch and water plants adequately in dry weather.
