Grows best in moist but well-drained or well-drained, humus-rich, fertile soil in a sunny position. Grow in a sheltered position. Neutral to acidic soil is ideal, but a lightly alkaline soil is tolerated

Propagate by seed, or semi-ripe cuttings in late summer or early autumn

May be susceptible to aphids, scale insects and holly leaf miner

May be susceptible to holly leaf blight or Phytophthora root diseases
