Oncidium Durham City gx

A medium-sized, epiphytic orchid hybrid with large, colourful flowers and 20-30cm long, evergreen, leathery leaves. New growth appears from the base of the swollen stem - pseudobulb. Each pseudobulb is a storage organ for water and nutrients. They are oval-shaped, slightly flattened, and partially covered by one or two pairs of green, leafed sheaths. The plant typically flowers in spring or autumn, on 40-50cm long upright, arching stems. New flowering stems arise from the axils of young, mature pseudobulbs and leafed sheaths. Star-shaped flowers are up to 10cm in diameter, heavily patterned with toothed edges and are mostly pale yellow, with a pink or brown/red pattern. The colours change depending on the cultivar.
