About this plant

A deciduous azalea to about 2.5m high, with an upright to rounded habit, and elliptic, slightly hairy green leaves. Produces large clusters of up to 15 widely funnel-shaped flowers, in shades of yellow, orange and red, as the leaves appear in mid to late spring

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in partial or dappled shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice
