An evergreen shrub to about 2.5m high, with a spreading habit, and small, narrowly ovate green leaves with brown, scaly undersides. Produces dense clusters of 20 or more distinctive, tiny white flowers with prominent stamens, from late spring into summer

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil. Position in partial or dappled shade, or in full sun in cooler spots where the soil does not dry out. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice
