About this plant

A dwarf evergreen shrub to about 50cm high, with a compact, spreading habit, and elliptic to oblong-shaped scaly green leaves. Produces clusters of 2-3 broadly funnel-shaped, pale creamy yellow flowers, with orange-red speckles on the upper petals, in late spring

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in partial or dappled shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds, and do not allow plants to dry out. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer
