About this plant

China rose, an ancestor of most of our modern garden hybrid roses. Variable growth about 1.2 to 1.8m tall with stout branches and glossy green leaves composed of 3-5 leaflets and single crimson or pink, occasionally white blooms 5cm across, flowering continuously from June to September, then scarlet fruits (hips) follow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Mulch with well-rotted organic matter in late winter or early spring, and for best flowering apply a general rose or shrub fertiliser in early spring and again in early summer. See rose cultivation
