About this plant

A compact, upright medium shrub to 1m in height with large, toothed, oval dark-green leaves from spring to autumn. The stems bear a number of deep crimson double flowers that gradually turn rich purple, deeply cupped at first becoming flatter with age. Flowers from summer to autumn with a strong old rose fragrance

Cultivation

Grow in full sun with fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. For best flowering apply a balanced fertiliser and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertiliser again in early summer - see rose cultivation
