About this plant

A compact, bushy evergreen shrub to around 50cm high, with elliptic, glossy dark green leaves, tinted crimson at the midrib and sometimes at the margins, and flushed with reddish bronze in autumn and winter. Slender spikes of flowers, opening near white and maturing to pale pink, are produced from midsummer to early autumn

Cultivation

Suits a range of well-drained soils, but best grown in poor to moderately fertile, neutral to slightly alkaline soil, in sun or partial shade with shelter from cold, drying winds. May need protection in cold winters
